Airbnb Plus is the platform’s newest listing category that can allow hosts to command a higher nightly rate for their home through new added benefits such as enhanced listing layout and search ranking. Yet in order to qualify for an application, homes must first meet a 100-point quality checklist – a task of Herculean effort for the average host.
Through the use of our award-winning, end-to-end management service however, Hostmaker not only helped hosts Melissa and James earn 200% more from their home than their previous long-term letting solution, but also make their listing stand out from the crowd and be included in the first batch of Airbnb Plus London homes.
Before setting their listing live, Melissa and James worked with Hostmaker Design Studio, mindful of wanting to create a “luxurious and inviting space for guests” that stood out in the sea of online listings. Founded on the basis of creating purposeful and unique interiors that combine comfort and discovery, the Design Studio team’s expertise speak for themselves (see how their other designs have elevated hosts income here). For this home a romantic, botanical theme was used throughout the home, ensuring that each piece reflected the personal style of the hosts, and were practical for use by Airbnb guests – both requirements for Airbnb Plus hosts to fulfill.
‘We had a wonderful experience working with the Hostmaker team. They redecorated the entire house and made it look amazing for an unbelievable budget. The whole process from start to finish was incredibly smooth and no job or task was too much trouble’ – Melissa and James
Beyond the bare necessities
Melissa and James were aided by Hostmaker’s stellar account management team to ensure that their home was well-equipped for each set of guests. Our guest-ready checklist, sent to each host that signs up to Hostmaker, gives hosts a handy guide of items they should purchase for their home before their listing goes live, including everything from cutlery to coathangers. Hostmaker stocks each home with soft, matching linen and crisply laundered towels that are premium hotel standard and changed fresh after each stay. Guests can also enjoy a kitchen stocked with essentials such as tea and coffee, as well as a small welcome pack filled to the brim with local treats and tips on how to explore the city. By taking these extra steps and including them as standard in our management fees, Hostmaker helped Melissa and James fulfill the Airbnb Plus’ requirements of “comfort” and “well-equipped” before the criteria even existed.
Bringing hotel-level maintenance to homestays
Hostmaker’s roots are in hospitality, and so fulfilling Airbnb’s final group of criterion (having a “well-maintained” home) required no extra steps to be taken. Melissa and James’ home is serviced by hotel-trained Housekeepers after each stay, ensuring the space is clean and bright. When maintenance issues may occur, our guest operations team work with our trusted handymen and the host to resolve any issue swiftly and discreetly, to ensure that each of our homes are maintained to a high standard.
Although Airbnb Plus may be a new badge of honor for hosts to earn, the steps that they must take towards doing so have been carried out by Hostmaker since our inception 4 years ago. So why not join landlords like Melissa and James that are flocking to Hostmaker, to see if you could be Airbnb Plus’ newest addition?
